Step 14: Make Your Website Visible
Although you can see your website – and anyone who knows your domain name can see your websites, we need to make sure search engines such as Google can see it (otherwise know as “index your site”. Back in Step 8 we made our website private by changing WordPress’ privacy settings, so we could take our sweet time building our website without it showing up in search engines unfinished.
Finally it’s time to make your website public. This step will make your website visible to search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing.
Note: This does not mean your website will automatically show up on page #1 of Google for “round purple widgets”. Search Engine Optimization, as it’s know, is a whole other bunch of lessons.
Time to put the finishing touch on your website:
Find the Privacy Settings

Login to your WordPress admin area and find the Privacy link under the settings menu and click on it.
Make Your Website Visible

Now check the “I would like to make sure my blog is visible to everyone…” button and click the Save Changes button.
That’s it, you’re done!
Congratulations! Crack open the bubbly, you’ve just launched your website to the world.

Hey Luke,
Thanks for the tutorial. Our blog is run by WordPress and I do posts etc but never knew it was so easy to build a website with. You’ve inspired me to start planning some satelite sites that offer free stuff and link back to our primary site.
Love your podcasts too mate even though that other bloke is always interupting. Have a great day and thanks again for the awesome content.
Regards,
Chris
